Till death do you blog

January 3, 2007

Having a personal blog is like being married, for it to be successful you have to work at it regularly and forever (assuming you want it to last forever).

The average popular blogger has taken a great deal of time to build up a readership and that loyalty comes with a price, if you stop blogging for a couple of weeks then how many readers would you lose?.

It’s OK with subject blogs like TechCrunch, LifeHacker etc. someone else can always take up the slack in you absence but if Robert Scoble wants a break who covers his blog? – no one.

Being an A-list blogger on a personal blog is a huge commitment, especially if you allow comments and read / reply to them.
