Member only forums – how to shoot yourself in the foot

The problem with member only forums is that Google and other search engines can’t index all your information. As a result, hardly anyone ever finds them.

    Some sites like Experts Exchange will publish their best of or solutions though.

    I guess it’s also about privacy and not wanting others to see some or all of their posts 🙂

  2. I’m sure they get a lot of visitors from the posts that are indexed but how much more could they be getting if it was all indexed.
    I agree it’s OK to have a small area that’s for members only for privacy reasons but a lot of forums have the majority of their content behind a registration screen.
